We’re excited to finally share some big news—after a long wait, we are going ahead with adding Halton Street to The Eden-Field Project!
A Long-Awaited Addition
Halton Street is a small but promising site running alongside Halton Street in Bolton. It’s taken some time to get everything in place, but now that we have the green light, we can’t wait to get started and bring this unique space into The Eden-field Project family.
Tackling Challenges, Growing Community
We know that a large part of the Halton Street site is currently affected by knotweed—an invasive species that’s tricky to manage. But that’s exactly the kind of challenge The Eden-field Project was created to tackle. One of our core aims is to reduce invasive species and restore balance to local green spaces, so knotweed control will be a priority as we begin work here.
A New No-Dig Community Grow Space
Even though we’re a Community Interest Company (CIC), we still need to generate funds to keep projects like this thriving. That’s why we’re opening up Halton Street as a no-dig community grow space. Our vision is to create a vibrant, accessible area where people can come together, learn, and grow—while supporting the long-term sustainability of the project. As a bonus to the ‘no-dig policy’, there will be no disruption to the roots of the local knotweed, so we aim to have the site open for some introductory plots in 2026
Bringing Land Back to Love
We’ll be teaming up with local residents, charities, and organisations (we have already had great conversations with the Proper Good programme) to breathe new life into this currently unloved piece of land. Together, we’ll transform Halton Street into a welcoming, productive, and inspiring space for everyone in the community.
Get Involved
Whether you’re interested in growing, volunteering, or partnering with us, we’d love to hear from you. Keep an eye out for updates as we share our progress, challenges, and successes along the way.
